Exercise #108

Exercise #108: Self Knowledge
Posted 5/20/05

Who are you?

My team, at work, is having an optional “fifteen minutes of fame.” Each time we have a team meeting (twice a month) one of our team members can, if they choose to, take fifteen minutes of meeting time to tell the rest of us about themselves. The goal is to know a little bit more about who our team members are, one at a time.

In those fifteen minutes, we’re supposed to relate who we are: work history, life history, people and places, goals and dreams, accomplishments. We’re allowed to choose the path we want to take and be as personal -- or as professional -- as we want.

I’m using that concept for this exercise. In the 500 words allowed, tell us who you are. Where were you born, what color are your eyes, what did you want to be when you grew up, what’s your favorite meal? Pick the path you want to take and share as much -- or as little -- as you want to, in 500 words or less.

If you prefer, you may show us a character doing this.

Word limit: 500 for your own piece, 1200 for a character piece
Please use the subject line:

This self-knowledge exercise will make you evaluate your life and which pieces you want to share.
