Exercise #19

Exercise #19: Craft
Posted 9/5/03

I want to look at Point of View today, and when I researched it, my mind was spinning with all the different possible POVs out there. Wow.

Here are some of the websites I found interesting and informative. They're worth checking out if you need a refresher on what a POV is...

For this Point of View exercise, you'll need a four-character scene. Got it? (No ideas? How about the fast food drive through? The driver ordering, the driver behind, the teenager running the register, and the manager watching.)

Now you can go either of two ways (if you want to do both, please post to the exercise twice to eliminate overly long emails):

a) Choose one of the four characters and show us the scene once in first person and again in third person (600 words per POV) or
b) Choose two of the four characters and show us the scene once using one character in first person and again using the other in third (again, 600 words per POV).
