Exercise #228: Craft
Posted 9/7/07

In honor of Chas’s recent Training, today’s craft exercise will deal with genre. We have our favorites, don’t we? Those of us who participated in the SPA Training found out how hard it is to write in a different genre.

We did this before, two years ago, so let’s revisit it. Try out a different genre. Like westerns? Write a short story in science fiction. Like haiku? Try free verse. The choice is yours; pick a genre you normally don’t write in and try it out.

If you did one of the SPA Homeworks, you may use the piece from that and fit it into a genre you didn’t try during the Training.

(If you can’t pick a genre, drop me a line and I’ll give you one. Please specify if you want prose or poetry.)
