Exercise #330: Self Knowledge
Posted 8/21/09

The games of Chase, Pounce, and Run Like Crazy are played by young animals of all kinds. These games help the baby cougar or coyote practice skills they’ll need for hunting, and the baby horse and bunny learn them to hone escape tactics.

What games did you play as a child that help you cope most with today’s world? Show us the game or show us the way you use it today.

You may, if you wish, show a character tackling this exercise instead.

Critiquers, with an exercise like this one, you might choose to answer these questions rather than using a different technique for critiquing the piece:
     * Can you relate to the piece? How and why?
     * What is the message, if there is one? Is it presented in a way any reader can understand even if he/she hasn't had a similar experience?
     * Did the writer's experience come through to the reader?

Word limit: 1200
Please use the subject line:
             SUB: Exercise #330/yourname

Why this is a self-knowledge exercise: How long has it been since you played Hide ‘N’ Seek? This exercise will give you a nudge toward remembering those games and some of the fun times of childhood.
