Exercise #511: Self Knowledge
Posted 3/15/13

Since Saturday night, my email program has been unable to send, so if you received a note from me you may have noticed it looked a bit different. Let me tell you, my Webmail is pretty bad. The experience got me to thinking about the things I take for granted every day.

Pick one thing currently in your life and imagine what your life would be like without it.

Can you imagine what your daily routine would be like without running water? A cell phone? Even something as small as the ability to easily send email has a tremendous impact.  Show us your day without your chosen item, or give us an essay on what you’ve learned by thinking about the possibility.

As always, you may show a character tackling this exercise instead.

Critiquers, you might choose to answer these questions for critiquing the piece:
     * Did you catch any spelling errors or other standard proofreading items? If so, note them for the author.
     * Can you relate to the impact the missing thing has? Why or why not?

Word limit: 1200
Please use the subject line:
             SUB: Exercise #511/yourname

Why this is a self-knowledge exercise: This may give you some insight into what you think is valuable, and what you currently take for granted about your life.
