Today's exercise comes to us from Sharon Tabor Warren.

Limit this piece to 1000 words. It can be on any topic but must be a description of a fast-action activity and/or person: motorcycling, NASCAR, jitterbugging, ping-pong, break dancer, juggler, belly dancer. Whatever comes to mind that/who encompasses speed and action.

Use NO passive verbs (to ride, was racing, had danced) or present participles (serving, swerving, dipping).

Try to omit adverbs and limit adjectives. Paint pictures with your nouns and verbs. Make the reader see and feel the action, the color, the movement; feel the speed, the rush, the heat; hear the beat, the tempo; taste the victory and triumph; smell the fear, the danger, the defeat.
