Exercise #106: Craft Posted 5/6/05
Whether it's a book or a television show, the best ones leave you hanging whenever there's a break. At the end of a chapter, or right before a commercial, the storyline reaches a climactic moment but doesn't quite resolve it. Anxiously we flip the page, fast-forward through the beer ads. Why?
We were left wondering what happens next. We care about these characters, and we've got to know! Within a page or a few seconds, we find out what happens.
Did you make a cliffhanger out of the last Craft exercise? If so, pull it back out and wrap up that conflict. Show us what happens after the sparks and bullets. If not, find a conflict (song, book, TV, life event?) and show us the resolution. Either way, you may give a short introduction of 200 words or less to bring us to the cliffhanger point before resolving the conflict.
Word limit: 1200, not including intro Please use the subject line SUB: Exercise #106/yourname
