Exercise #1003: Craft
Posted  8/4/23

I miss Jo. And Chas, and Mamie, and Marjorie. And several others we’ve lost along the way. Like the characters in my favorite books, most of these folks I never met in real life.

For today’s exercise, think about how you handle death in your craft. Death of a character (how hard is it to kill off the lead?), a plotline (sometimes they just don’t go the way I think they should) or even that last unfinished manuscript you leave behind (will someone finish it for you?).

Go ahead, give it some thought. Then write!

For this exercise, you may use a character answering it instead.

Critiquers, along with the usual grammar, spelling, etc, review, consider these questions:
     * Could you relate to the piece? Why or why not?
     * Was this helpful to you as a writer? Why or why not?

Word limit: 1200
Please use the subject line
