Exercise #1034: Your Thoughts Posted 6/28/24
Today's exercise comes from Tyger.
Tyger suggests writing up a scene which gives emotions, feelings and perhaps thoughts to inanimate objects:
Perhaps describing how a house feels that has been empty for a while and you come with your Significant Other or with a group of friends. Write the story from the house's POV or from the perception of the writer.
Or you buy a car that has been sitting in a pasture rotting for 20 years. You describe what the car is feeling when you find it, when you come back to get it after you buy it, when you tow it home into the garage, when you work on it, when it's finished and you take it out on a test drive. Either from the car's POV or the buyer's perception.
Or you find your dad's walking stick that was also his dad's walking stick ...
Or you find a historical site that has been hidden.
There are many possibilities.
Critiquers, along with the usual grammar, spelling, etc, review, also consider these questions: * Could you relate to the emotions in the piece? * Is there anything you would have changed? If so, what?
