Exercise #179: Word Play
Posted 9/29/06

Desk Drawer members once had a discussion about novels and short stories which excluded a letter. The (to me) most famous such work, the French novel La Disparition, contains no ‘e’ in any of the words. The author is Georges Perec. Another author, Christian Bok, makes up languages for television shows and writes poetry. His book, Eunoia (the title is one of the shortest words to contain all five vowels), contains chapters with words with use only one vowel each. For instance, Chapter A tells the story of Hasan Abd al-Hassad, an Agha Khan. It’s an odd read.

Your task is to create a submission which doesn’t use one of the letters of the alphabet. While this letter can be a consonant, there’s not much challenge in writing something that contains no ‘z,’ so try to pick a more commonly used letter.

Word limit: 1200
