Exercise #208: Self Knowledge Posted 4/20/07
Today’s exercise comes to us from Susan Frank. She writes, “How about an apology? One made, one that should have been made, or one expected that was/was not received?”
There you have it. Give us an apology! Er . . . To make this a true self-knowledge exercise, show us an apology from your life which was either made by you to someone (or should have been, and wasn’t) or made by someone else to you (or should have been, and wasn’t). Bring us into the situation and help us feel the anger, shame, joy, hope, or whatever feelings were there during that time.
As an alternative, you may choose to write this as fiction. Show us a character experiencing one of the above situations.
Word limit: 1200 Please use the subject line: SUB: Exercise #208/yourname
I consider this a self-knowledge exercise because it may make us think about an apology we may be currently neglecting.
