Exercise #300

Exercise #300: Webactive
Posted 1/23/09

Today’s exercise is a ride which could go anywhere and might be different tomorrow from what it is today.

First, choose a word from these:
   * smudge
   * quest
   * volunteer
   * oxygen
   * buzzer
   * squeegee

Now, fire up your favorite Web browser and do a search for your chosen word. Wow! Six hundred fifty-five million, seven hundred thousand hits.

Find one of those millions that strikes your fancy. Please be careful, and try to only choose reputable sites. If there are a lot of = or ? or ~ in the site address, that one might not be a good choice. You might also need to go to the third or fourth page of hits to get sentences instead of advertisements or definitions. (Hint: blogs are the best.)

Got your site? Now find where your chosen word appears. Good!

That sentence, the one on the site you picked which contains the word you chose, that one is your prompt. Give us the sentence at the top of your SUB. Remember a warning if you chose a risque site!

Critiquers, note how well the sentence prompt fits what was written.

Word limit: 1200
Please use the subject line:
       SUB: Exercise #300/yourname

If you cannot access the Web, email me your word and I’ll send you back several sentences to choose from.
