Exercise #307: Spark Line
Posted 3/13/09

In Spark Line exercises, you will get one to three lines, usually pulled from conversation I was part of or overheard. Do whatever you like with the spark line prompt. Use it as a starting point, an ending point, take one word out of it and play with that, or whatever - ahem - sparks your

interest.

Today’s spark line was heard in a restaurant as the couple at the table next to ours decided what to order. As if speaking to the air, the gentleman didn’t look at his wife or wait for her to respond.

Use this spark line in any way you see fit:
“There's a right way to build a house and there's a wrong way to build a house.” Pause. “Yeah. That's why the Indians could live in teepees in North Dakota.”

Critiquers, see if you can find the connection between the SUB and the prompt.

Word limit: 1200
Please use the subject line:
       SUB: Exercise #307/yourname
