Exercise #402: Craft Posted 1/7/11
Today's exercise comes from Seth. This is meant to develop our skill of expression, not necessarily our counseling abilities. Today you are the author of a column in a national newspaper. You receive the following question:
Dear Sage,
She is having an affair with my husband. Should I report her to her boss?
Regards, Floundering in Florida
Show us how you would answer this in your column. Afterward, give us a brief view of how you see this woman. What kind of person is she and why did you answer her the way you have?
Critiquers, along with the usual technical critique, note any ambiguity in the SUB. How well do you think the author met the requirements of this exercise? Do you agree with the author’s assessment of Mrs. Floundering?
Word limit: 1000 for the column, 200 for the summary Please use the subject line SUB: Exercise #402/yourname
