Exercise #435: Your Thoughts
Posted 8/26/11

Today's exercise comes from Steven.

Steven said, “I am re-re-reading the Lord of The Rings and realized I am enjoying them a lot more this time because a) I am older now, and b) because the emotional connection of the film, despite the differences in plot etc., enhances the writing.

Maybe a prompt could be to have us look at books we love that are films and see the reaction. Does the film hurt or help the experience? What about the writing; is it better or worse this time, now that you have the visual interpretation of the film’s director?”

I would also add, What books have you really loved which you are afraid you’ll see in film?

Critiquers, along with the usual grammar, spelling, etc, review, consider these questions:
  * If you have read the book or seen the movie, did you agree with the author’s take on it?  Why or why not?
  * Does this make you want to re-read the book or see the movie again soon? Why or why not?

Word limit: 500
