Exercise #447

Exercise #447: Self Knowledge
Posted 12/16/11

Today’s exercise comes from John Boylan.

This exercise is a variation of Exercise #437, inspired by Sharon Allen's (Sharona) SUB, posted on 9/21, which described conflicting beliefs among her ancestors and their descendants. Sharon's Irish clan split between Catholics and Protestants.

For this exercise, examine (or create) a split in views and beliefs in your family and show us how it affects people.

Critiquers, along with a technical critique, pay attention to the reasonableness or unreasonableness of the split, its consequences and how (or if) it has evolved to the present day.

Word limit: 1200
Please use the subject line:
             SUB: Exercise #447/yourname

Why this is a self-knowledge exercise: Any time we examine the beliefs of our family, we examine our own, too. You might be surprised at how your beliefs have changed over the years.
