Exercise #586: Craft
Posted  9/5/14

Today's exercise is the third in a set of three, presented by B Paul Dean.
(Find the first one here. And the second one here.)

Journey Step 3

Put it together. Now that you've worked on your story idea and given the characters the breath of life, outline your story. Add the twists and modifications you thought up in the last month. (Of course you did. You're a writer.) Work on it until you like it, then read it aloud to someone, and then work on it some more and post it for your sub.

Your outline is a fluid document, subject to changes at your whims and coalescing ideas. The outline for your sub may or may not be the one you eventually write the story from, but it should be reasonably complete enough that you can start a draft.

Alternately, if your story is fewer than 2,000 words, you may post your finished work for your sub.

Critiquers, along with the usual technical critique, you might answer these questions:
     * Was this piece helpful to you as a writer?
     * Why or why not?

Word limit: 2000
Please use the subject line
     SUB: Exercise #586/yourname
