Exercise #626: Self Knowledge Posted 6/19/15
Today’s exercise comes from Jo.
We all see others treating their children in ways that upset us, but that includes what pet owners do to their animals. Is that snake growing bigger than his cage? Are your neighbors leaving their dog chained, alone and without enough water for the day? Is your neighbor's trail horse left in a small corral with a blanket on in hot temperatures, with no escape from the sun?
This exercise is not about what you do with your own pet if you have one. It is about your observances of other people and their pet practices. Tell us about a problem you see, what you think should be done about it. If the resolution really happened and/or you intervened, tell us about the outcome.
As always, you may show a character tackling this exercise instead.
Critiquers, you might choose to answer these questions for critiquing the piece: * Did you catch any spelling errors or other standard proofreading items? If so, note them for the author. * Could you relate to this? If so, how?
Word limit: 1200 Please use the subject line: SUB: Exercise #626/yourname
I consider this a self-knowledge exercise because thinking about this may help you improve your attitude toward animals and could encourage taking action when that is appropriate.
