Exercise #639: Craft
Posted  10/2/15

Today's exercise comes from Erica.

Erica said, “I have been researching, trying to figure out how to do speech without quote marks, i.e., things like internal monologue vs reported speech vs free indirect discourse, etc.”

This is particularly difficult in a plain text format, which doesn’t allow italics or other visual clues.

For today’s exercise, let us know how you handle this in your work. You may present your SUB in essay form (recommended if your method requires formatting) or as a story which illustrates your method. If you need a scene to write to, one is included below for you,

Critiquers, along with a technical review you might answer these questions:
     * Was this exercise helpful to you as a writer?
     * Why or why not?

 Word limit: 1200
Please use the subject line
       SUB: Exercise #639/yourname
