Exercise #666: Self Knowledge Posted 4/15/16
(Hope you won’t skip this one due to the exercise number!)
Today’s exercise comes to us from B Paul.
Paul said, “When I wrote my piece about the death of my turkey named Spartacus, I wondered for many days afterward, and still wonder, why it affected me so much. It came as an unexpected surprise that I had grieved so deeply. So, I also wonder how many others have had something happen that affected them in some deep and unexpected manner.
Seems like, with a little massaging, that could be fodder for a self-knowledge exercise. I would be interested to read if others have a similar story to tell.”
There you have it. Share with us a time when you were affected by something in a deep and unexpected manner. Help us feel what you felt.
As always, you may choose to show a character completing this exercise instead.
Critiquers, you might choose to answer these questions for critiquing the piece: * Did you catch any spelling errors or other standard proofreading items? If so, note them for the author. * Could you relate to this? If so, how?
Word limit: 1200 Please use the subject line: SUB: Exercise #666/yourname
I consider this a self-knowledge exercise because viewing what affects us emotionally, especially much later when the emotions have calmed, can tell us a lot about ourselves.
