Exercise #684: Self Knowledge
Posted 8/19/16

What words trigger you into “off” mode?

For the IT help desk where I work, that word is “database.” They are supposed to be our support but for them that support only means for the larger software or hardware issues. Trouble with your Outlook? No problem. Your mouse? Also no problem. But the minute you say a database isn’t working, they tune out.

For some folks, the word might be their ex’s name.

What’s yours? Show us why that is your turn-off word.

As always, you may choose to show a character tackling this exercise.

Critiquers, you might try answering these questions for critiquing the piece:
     * Did you catch any spelling errors or other standard proofreading items? If so, note them for the author.
     * Could you relate to this? If so, how?

Word limit: 1200
Please use the subject line:
             SUB: Exercise #684/yourname

Why this is a self-knowledge exercise: Understanding our responses to certain words may help us overcome this reaction.
