Exercise #687: Self Knowledge Posted 9.16.16
There are perils in assumptions. Sometimes they’re minor issues and sometimes not . . . a minor example for you is that the usual reminder time on meetings at my work is 15 minutes. So we “assume” everyone sets the reminder this way (it is the default if you don’t choose) but when someone does it differently, wham! I snooze the reminder, which then makes it come up again 5 minutes before the meeting. Once, I made that assumption but it turned out the first reminder was at the 5 minute mark. Ouch!
Show us an example of when you made an assumption that turned out to be wrong.
As always, you may choose to show a character tackling this exercise.
Critiquers, you might try answering these questions for critiquing the piece: * Did you catch any spelling errors or other standard proofreading items? If so, note them for the author. * Could you relate to this? If so, how?
