Exercise #735: Self Knowledge Posted 11/17/17
Look around you. Pick an item from the room you’re in and share a story about it. It could be something special, that reminds you of someone you love. It could be something you got on sale (Black Friday?).
If you’re in a place you don’t own so nothing around you is yours, pick something that catches your eye and make up a tale about it! As always, you may choose to have a character answer this challenge, if you prefer.
Having trouble choosing? Try doing this at night with a narrow-beam flashlight. Things look different when they are the only things lit up in a dark room . . .
Critiquers, you might try answering these questions for critiquing the piece: * Did you catch any spelling errors or other standard proofreading items? If so, note them for the author. * Could you relate to this piece? Why or why not?
Word limit: 1200 Please use the subject line: SUB: Exercise #735/yourname
Why this is a self-knowledge exercise: The items we choose to keep and display tell us a lot about ourselves (or our past!). Reviewing them might trigger some good memories.
