Exercise #739: Self Knowledge
Posted 12/15/17

Kona snuggled into my lap as I sat down to work at the computer and I told her, “Good cat.” She looked up at me and purred, as if she knew it all along. I realize her reasons for keeping my lap warm probably have nothing to do with love or being a “good cat,” and I wondered about the “good” and “bad” labels.

Are you a “good person?” What defines that for you? Would those around you agree? Those who don’t know you as well?

For today’s exercise, categorize yourself as good or bad (it doesn’t have to be how you really feel!), then give us a scene depicting your choice. Ideally, your critiquer should be able to decide which one you chose.

As always, you may choose to have a character tackle this exercise instead.

Critiquers, you might try answering these questions for critiquing the piece:
     * Did you catch any spelling errors or other standard proofreading items? If so, note them for the author.
     * Was the character good or bad? What made you pick that one?

Word limit: 1200
Please use the subject line:
             SUB: Exercise #739/yourname

Why this is a self-knowledge exercise: Reviewing ourselves for whether we lean more toward good or bad might give us some insight into behaviors we might want to change!
