Exercise #795: Self Knowledge
Posted 2/15/19

What are you happy about today?

Take a few minutes and really think about what you’re happy about. Even if you’re currently wildly upset with your partner, there are still things about him/her that make you smile. Kids didn’t do the chores . . . again . . . but still there’s something about them that radiates joy. Find that something and share it with us. Too many to pick from? Lucky you! Pick one anyway. :-)

Show us a scene that illustrates what makes you happy or lets us know why. You may also give us an essay about it, instead.

As always, you can choose to have a character do this exercise instead.

Critiquers, you might try answering these questions for critiquing the piece:
     * Did you catch any spelling errors or other standard proofreading items? If so, note them for the author.
     * Could you relate to this piece? Why or why not?

Word limit: 1200
Please use the subject line:
             SUB: Exercise #795/yourname

Why this is a self-knowledge exercise: Finding the “happy” in an otherwise not-happy day can often lift our spirits as it reminds us that all is not doom and gloom. We can often choose whether something gets us down!
