Exercise #818: Self Knowledge
Posted 8/16/19

What was the last lie you told?

It might have been a “little white lie” to save someone’s feelings, or something really big, but we all have them. Think hard! What was yours?

For today’s exercise, think about that instance and how it happened. Why did you lie? Who did you lie to? Then think about it in the bigger picture - do you do that often? If so, why? If not, will it now be a habit? Once you’ve analyzed your lie, write!

As always, you can choose to have a character do this exercise instead.

Critiquers, you might try answering these questions for critiquing the piece:
     * Did you catch any spelling errors or other standard proofreading items? If so, note them for the author.
     * Could you relate to this piece? Why or why not?

Word limit: 1200
Please use the subject line
     SUB: Exercise #818/yourname

Why this is a self-knowledge exercise: Even the most honest person among us lies sometimes. Looking closely at when and why we lie might teach us something!
