Exercise #845: Self Knowledge Posted 3/20/20
Today's exercise comes from something Sue wrote to me, so she gets indirect credit.
Do you have a Will or Living Trust? Have you thought about what happens to all of your possessions when you’re gone? Recently I spoke to Chas (a former DD member) and she’s still going through all of the stuff her mom had. I saw some of that when I stayed at her mom’s house for a visit once; there was a LOT. I can’t imagine sorting through it all.
Look around you with someone else’s eyes. What do you see?
For today’s exercise, you may show us a scene prompted by the above, or give us an essay about what plans you’ve made (or not) about this time in your life.
As always, you can choose to have a character do this exercise instead.
Critiquers, you might try answering these questions for critiquing the piece: * Did you catch any spelling errors or other standard proofreading items? If so, note them for the author. * Could you relate to this piece? Why or why not?
Word limit: 1200 Please use the subject line: SUB: Exercise #845/yourname
Why this is a self-knowledge exercise: We tend to avoid these topics but if you watch or read the news, you’ll know it isn’t always safe to be young. If you have plans, great! If you don’t, consider making them. And if you chose to skip this exercise totally, well, that tells you something, too, doesn’t it?
