Exercise #910

Exercise #910: Craft
Posted  8/6/21

Today's exercise comes to us from Randy.

Randy said, "Take one of our own stories (1200 words or so), and cut 250 words out of it, obliterating adverbs, adjectives, and many vague prepositions.”

Basically, cut out the fat! You can use one of your previous SUBs as your draft or create a new draft. Then trim, trim, trim at least 250 words out of it. Your revision should be as complete a story as you can make it.

For your SUB, post any commentary you want to make, your finished work and your draft.

It’s harder than it sounds!

Critiquers, along with the usual grammar, spelling, etc, review, consider these questions:
     * Could you relate to this piece? Why or why not?
     * Was this piece helpful to you as a writer? Why or why not?

Word limit: 250 for your summary, 750 for your finished piece, no limit for the draft which should be last
Please use the subject line
       SUB: Exercise #910/yourname
