Exercise #969: Self Knowledge Posted 11/18/22
As I puttered around the house yesterday waiting for my husband to come in from working, I wondered: How long do you wait for someone? Think about the last time you waited for someone (whether or not they actually showed up). How patient were you? (Were you early, on time or late?) Remember that feeling?
Good. Now change the person you're waiting for. Would the patience level and feeling be the same if you were waiting for . . . A blind date? Picking up your brother from the airport? Having coffee with a good friend?
Examine the differences (if there are any) between these and write!
As always, you may choose to show a character answering this exercise instead.

Why this is a self-knowledge exercise: Our relationship with a person can sometimes affect everything about the interactions. Our emotions, our patience, even our outlook on the future. By recognizing this we may be able to leverage the "good" ones when confronted with the "bad" ones.
